Founder and Clinical Director of Mindcare, With over 20 years of experience in therapy
Zev Berkowitz, has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a School Psychologist for over 20 years. After graduating from New York University with a double masters, Zev started working in outpatient and inpatient clinics, as well as in group practice. Since 2008, Zev has also been in private practice and then in 2018, Zev founded Online Virtual Counselors.
Zev has a specialized niche working with couples, including premarital, married, straight, gay, and individuals within the partnership. While working with Zev, clients will get help with communication, intimacy and trust issues that are affecting the union. Other areas that are sub-specialties within couples are addictions that either exist with one or both people and the fallout that follows. Cases where infidelity has been an issue, and high conflict couples and learning to develop trust.
Zev Berkowitz applies relationship tools, problem-solving, conflict management, and role-modeling communication skills so both partners feel they are important and are considered a priority in the relationship. Zev also works with teenagers and people suffering from anxiety disorders, or panic attacks.
Through my years of practice, I have had the opportunity to work with a broad range of people on a wide range of issues. The skills of the therapist, developed and refined over many years are of importance in the clinical setting. Helping clients access their emotional and cognitive processing is a significant component of the work. I work with individuals, couples and families who feel “stuck” to identify the underlying causes and work towards defining goals that will spell “relief”. Collaboration and reinforcement are significant in the process in order to help achieve the goals that are established and help create change.
One of my areas of specialty is working with couples at different passages of their relationship; from pre-marital, early stages of a marriage to parenting issues, communication issues and infidelity.
